Your customers are looking for you. The question is: Can they find you?
If you’re a plumber, roofer, HVAC company, electrician, flooring company, restoration company, paving contractor, or another local service business, you already know something important:
You don’t need every customer. You need the right customers.
The homeowner who needs an emergency roof repair.
The property owner who needs an HVAC system replaced.
The customer searching for a transmission shop that can handle a major repair.
The homeowner whose basement is flooding right now.
The person who needs a plumber today—not three weeks from now.
Those customers are looking.
They’re searching on Google. They’re looking at Maps. They’re asking questions in AI tools. They’re checking reviews, websites, videos, social media and other sources before they decide who to call.
And if your business isn’t showing up when those customers are looking, someone else is getting the opportunity to talk to them.
That’s what I help businesses fix.
I Help Businesses Do Five Things
1. Protect What You’ve Built
You’ve spent years building your reputation.
You’ve earned your reviews.
You’ve built relationships with customers.
You’ve invested in your website, your trucks, your employees, your equipment and your community.
Don’t let all of that become invisible.
I help businesses make sure the assets they’ve already worked so hard to build are being used to help them get found today—and continue working for them tomorrow.
Because protecting what you’ve built isn’t just about protecting your reputation.
It’s about protecting the opportunity that reputation creates.
2. Beat Your Competitors
Your competition doesn’t have to be better than you to get the call.
Sometimes they’re simply easier to find.
Think about it.
If a homeowner searches:
“Emergency roof repair near me”
and your competitor appears everywhere while you’re nowhere to be found, the homeowner may never know you were an option.
That’s not necessarily a service problem.
It’s a visibility problem.
I help businesses identify where competitors are being found, where they’re getting attention, and where opportunities may be getting missed.
Because if your competitor is showing up where your customers are looking, you need to understand why.
3. Get Better Leads
More leads aren’t always the answer.
Better leads are.
What would happen if you could get more of the jobs you actually want?
More emergency calls?
More high-value HVAC replacements?
More transmission work?
More roofing jobs in the neighborhoods you want to serve?
More commercial opportunities?
More profitable service calls?
That’s one of the conversations I like to have with business owners.
Because instead of simply asking:
“How can we get you more leads?”
I’d rather ask:
“If your phone rang right now and you could choose exactly what kind of customer was on the other end, what would you want that call to be?”
That’s where the conversation gets interesting.
Because once you know the jobs you actually want, you can start looking at whether you’re visible in the places those customers are searching.
4. Get Found
This is the heart of what I do.
I help businesses get found in the places people are looking.
Not just one place.
Not just Google.
Not just your website.
Your customers may find you through:
- Google Search
- Google Maps
- Local search
- Reviews
- Social media
- Videos
- Your website
- Search engines
- AI-powered search
- ChatGPT and other AI tools
- Recommendations and online conversations
The way people find businesses is changing.
And it’s changing quickly.
The question isn’t:
“Do I have a website?”
The better question is:
“When someone is looking for the services I provide, in the places I want to work, am I one of the businesses they can actually find?”
That’s a very different question.
5. Get AI Ready
This is where things are changing especially fast.
People aren’t only typing traditional searches into Google anymore.
They’re asking AI tools questions like:
“Who are the best roofers near Frederick?”
“Who can repair my HVAC system?”
“What’s the best transmission shop near me?”
“Who handles emergency plumbing?”
“Which companies service this area?”
AI is changing how people discover businesses.
And being prepared for that doesn’t mean trying to “game AI.”
It means making sure your business has the information, authority, content, reputation and online presence that help these systems understand:
Who you are. What you do. Where you do it. And why someone should consider calling you.
If your business isn’t preparing for that change, you may eventually find yourself trying to catch up to companies that started preparing earlier.
The Real Question Isn’t “Do I Need Marketing?”
I don’t think that’s the right question.
I’d rather ask you five questions:
1. Are you getting enough of the calls you actually want?
2. Are your competitors showing up where you aren’t?
3. Are there valuable services or locations where you’re practically invisible?
4. Are people finding you when they search on Google, Maps and other places?
5. Are you prepared for customers who are using AI to decide which businesses to contact?
If you’re comfortable with all five answers, you may not need to change anything.
But if even one of those questions bothers you, it’s probably worth looking at.
Here’s How I Look At It
I don’t believe in selling a business owner something simply because I can.
First, let’s figure out whether there’s actually a problem worth solving.
If I can look at your business and show you:
- where you’re being found,
- where you’re not being found,
- what your competitors are doing,
- what opportunities you’re missing,
- what types of calls you could potentially be positioned for,
- and what customers are seeing when they search for your services,
then you can decide whether having a conversation makes sense.
No pressure. No obligation.
You should understand what you’re paying for, why you’re doing it, and what you’re trying to accomplish.
That’s how I believe business owners should be treated.
Why Me?
I’m not just someone who learned marketing from a textbook.
I’m a local guy.
I’ve owned a plumbing business.
I understand what it’s like to worry about keeping the phone ringing, keeping good people busy, covering payroll, paying the bills and finding the next job.
I’ve spent more than 16 years helping service businesses compete for customers online.
And I’ve worked with businesses in industries like plumbing, HVAC, roofing, restoration, flooring, paving, fencing, chimney services and other home-service industries.
So when I talk to a business owner, I’m not interested in throwing a bunch of marketing terminology at them.
I want to understand their business.
What jobs do they want?
Where do they want to work?
Who are they competing against?
Where are they getting customers now?
And, most importantly:
Where are they losing opportunities?
More Visibility Can Mean More Opportunity
Here’s the simple equation:
More visibility → More opportunities to be seen → More opportunities to get calls → More opportunities to get jobs → More revenue
There are no guarantees.
Being visible doesn’t automatically mean someone will call.
And getting a call doesn’t automatically mean you’ll close the job.
But if the customer can’t find you in the first place, you don’t even get the opportunity.
That’s the part I help businesses address.
So, Is It Worth a Conversation?
Here’s what I’d suggest.
Don’t call me because you think you need “digital marketing.”
Call me if you’re wondering:
“Are people looking for my services and finding my competitors instead of me?”
If that’s happening, let’s find out why.
If I don’t see an opportunity, I’ll tell you.
If I do see an opportunity, I’ll show you what I’m seeing.
Then you decide whether you want to do anything about it.
